Any successful society knows that, if it wants to have a bright future, it needs to invest in research, development and innovation. New products and services are the direct result of advances in the field of scientific research, but most importantly, of healthy competition between entrepreneurs, where hard work, an innovative approach and the willingness to take risks are rewarded. These new solutions in turn fulfill the needs of individuals and communities.
This is how societies progress. Healthy competition, well rewarded hard work, entrepreneurial spirit, innovation and new ideas, protected by a legal framework, decidedly make human endeavours evolve and advance. Why should it be different in the field of intellectual works, tools for education, analog or digital? Any other option would just suppress this virtuous development cycle, bring inefficiencies, lethargy, corruption and disinvestment, resulting in less value for society as a whole.
